I have a number of dashboards that I created public by accident - I really need to make them private, but it's not possible through UI.

Hey Ivan, I wonder if this is what you are looking for?

If you are a paid customer, you should be able to make a file private with this setting you can find in the share window (marked with red arrows) or fine tune access with link settings shown in the second image
